Newark 350 Exhibit
August 18, 2017
From September 2017, through mid-February 2018, visitors to the first floor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Courthouse in Newark were able to view a unique exhibit of Newark’s history created by, and on loan from, the Newark Public Library. The exhibit, “Newark at 350: Settlement, Growth, Renewal”, was originally presented in 2016 at the main building of the Newark Public Library in Washington Park to mark the city’s 350th anniversary. Each of the exhibit’s approximately 20 panels display a unique period in Newark’s history: from Robert Treat stepping ashore with his fellow Puritans; through the Revolutionary War; to the present day – and of course many of the memorable steps in between.
